33. Es una mala noticia.
A journalist serving as a go-between was with Castro when he got the news. From the look on Castro's face, he iimediately knew the implications for the future of his nation and the world would not be good. Kennedy was a man of peace and had strived mightily against members of his own Cabinet, Pentagon and Congress who counseled nuclear war.

For opposing the hawks during the Bay of Pigs when he refused to officially commit the US military, for opposing them in the Cuban Missile Crisis when they demanded war with the Soviet Union, when he refused their demands to escalate the conflict in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, the men of war murdered President Kennedy.

PS: Yours is a helluva post there, Minstrel-san! It deserves a better response than this, as do all the replies on this thread. For now, I wanted to state that I really appreciate what it contains and where it links to more information. And that image depicts the very minute the United States changed forever. Working together, you and all good people around the world are changing it back to what it was.
