If it really is an attempt to show that the right does not worship Jesus but some corrupted manifestation of Him then I’ll have no problem with the illustration personally and as a Christian. That is because I happen to agree that there is almost nothing in common with the Christ they claim and the true teachings, a visual illustration of that thought and a verbalization of it are no different in my mind.

That said, it was foolishness of Franken to give them such ammunition which can be distorted so easily to depict something which he didn’t intend. He more than anyone knows what they are capable of so why leave yourself wide open to the kinds of attacks which will certainly follow.
