or ... and I know this is very obvious to anyone paying attention ... but this whole mess invokes Orwell, 1984 and Big Brother.

Flash to crowds shrieking "Long Live Big Brother!"
it's becoming easier and easier to picture crowds shrieking "Long Live Dubya!"
Do you find it hard to imagine giant posters of Bush in heroic poses on the sides of a jillion big buildings like the Chinese used to do with Mao?

Sorry. I am drenched in this dark fantasy tonight.
