I was so offended this weekend
Advertisements [?]
I traveled to a small town called Bishop, California (I go there several times a year) and on Main Street the Presbyterian Church's message board really saddened and angered me.

Anyway, learning from DU not to let anything twist my emotions without a letter to the editor, I sent this to their local newspaper
______

What a disappointment to travel to Bishop this weekend and see on the Presbyterian Church’s message board "Do you value tolerance over truth?" on Main Street every day of my visit. What would provoke the church to promote hate on one of the town’s busiest weekends?

For a town that relies on the generosity of strangers traveling through Bishop to spend money at the local stores while enjoying the events and sites, placing a xenophobic message in the heart of the city certainly seems contradictory to the small town values of Bishop that I have experienced on previous visits.

I hope that in the future, the members of the Presbyterian Church use their prominent place on Main Street to welcome outsiders to Bishop rather than offend them. I also hope that Bishop residents are as embarrassed as I was for the statement given to all who traveled through your otherwise beautiful city.
