There is nothing wrong with what you have written. The problem is that virtually all countries act like this. It is nothing remarkable for the U.S. to act like this. The problem we are facing is not that we have acted like this and often still act like this -- it's that we have come to enjoy and revel in acting like this, like every other tinpot dictator who is too full of himself.

We have lost our ability to step outside our actions and criticize ourselves or evaluate our actions. We have stopped any attempts at self-reflection. We have stopped pondering on the big questions like "How shall we conduct our lives?" and "What is the right thing to do in this situation?" and have acted like the howling apes we so indignantly say we aren't. In short, we have lost control of ourselves, individually and as a nation.

I don't know the cure, sorry.
