We don't want to get tagged as anti-Hispanic. This is an historic appointment for the Hispanic community. Let's not forget that Bush made some serious gains this election with Mexican-Americans. The last thing we want is to be seen as anti-Mexican.

First of all, GONZALEZ is not a Mexican. That would be somebody who is a citizen of Mexico. Secondly, Beto GONZALEZ is a Shrub butt boy from the way back TX governor days, as somebody posted above, who did the legal scumwork in clearing the way for all the executions. Thirdly, this appointment is just a continuation of cynically USING minority puppets (Clarence THOMAS, Miguel ESTRADA) for wingnut purposes. Almost all of the Hispanic civil rights groups supported the much maligned Dem leadership in opposing ESTRADA. The only Hispanics who might be fooled into taking this appointment as an advance for Hispanics would be the newest immigrants and the children of other generations who don't know their own history with the Dem party.

Please forgive my crude stereotyping, but i am watching an interview with Gonzales on C-SPAN and can't but help think that this fellow is WAY GAY. Bigtime lisp and effeminate speech for sure. He's definitely not the sort of macho law and order cowboy type that some may expect. I think we may have another member of the "closeted conservative" club, to go with Ralphie Reed, Gary Bauer, Lindsey Graham, David Dreier and so on. Anybody else notice this?
