44. Better not mess with Janeane
I like her tats. I like her looks. I like her mind. If ya don't approve, then we must disagree.

What is more important than winning elections? Opening the hearts and minds of the average American, because if we help that happen we will win elections. When people claim that cannot be done I want to spit in disgust. Because the average American has proven to be an amazing creature, chock full of surprises. I refuse to give up on them. I refuse to abandon them to an era of tyranny, exploitation, repression, and abuse. Don't dis 'em because they succumbed to years of systematic propaganda while we pissed away our opportunities to serve their interest. (This refers to various struggles within the party back in the 70's and 80's.)

The implication that we must hide ourselves in order to avoid scaring the straights is the worst kind of nonsense. Garafolo speaks great sense most of the time. She speaks her truth clearly and courageously, and time is proving her (and us) right. The fact that the truth can emerge from pudgy long haired film makers and freaky tattooed women will eventually be noticed out there. The fact that lies and perversion can be the product of good church going evangelicals is already being noticed once again.

Cling to the truth, including the truth about ourselves as individuals. A really smart man once observed only the truth can set us free.
