Commentary: Jeb Bush's business is the public's now

What does Jeb Bush have to hide?
The Republican candidate for governor complains that reporters and political opponents are picking over his business deals, just as they did in 1994 before he narrowly lost to Gov. Lawton Chiles. There are legitimate reasons for the scrutiny.
Having never held elected public office, Bush has no voting record to evaluate. To examine his judgment, competence and ethics requires a thorough examination of his performance in private business.
Second, Bush appears determined to let voters see only part of the picture. That is a strategy that regularly backfires in public office.
The Republican's handling of questions about the contributors to the non-profit foundation he founded is one example of his reluctance to provide complete information.
