I honestly believe more people went to the polls on election day intending to cast their vote for John Kerry. Now whether or not their vote was counted is another story.
But I look at it like this: people don't stand in line at the polling place 10 hours, just to vote for the status quo. People don't register to vote in massive numbers, just for the status quo. They do so when they want change.
