That's how the game is played, and it's how those posh Ivy League schools can afford the ivy, the rare books libraries, the fine art, and the cachet, not to mention enough poor students with brains to keep up their standards. My guess is that little was expected of Babs Jr at Yale, and little was delivered. Her function will be to marry well according to the standards of the Texas mafia and to breed. Brains and class are not requirements. Fertility is.

I feel rather sorry for those two, since they seem to have accepted the rather low horizon and limited role they'll end up playing. They may have been capable of more, had they been encouraged to seek it.
