4. You're kidding, right?
No way in hell.

If you haven't noticed, conservatives cherry-pick causes that are either destined to fail or that require no real work at all, just a lot of screaming.

They do this for several reasons:

One, it boosts their own feeling of self-righteousness and moral superiority.

Two, it lets them feel persecuted. They can act like an oppressed minority and a victim of godless liberal elitists while their party controls all three branches of government.

Three, especially with the Schiavo case and anti-abortion, they don't really have to do anything. The "victims" (Terri, fetuses) can't really speak for themselves. Therefore, they can't speak out to say that the right isn't really doing anything to help them. The right just uses these people, and once they are finished with them they don't care if they live or die.

Conservatives don't care if a baby dies of starvation or for lack of health care once it is born, and they don't care if it is abandoned or neglected. They don't want to pay to help it.
And they wouldn't give a shit about Terri Schaivo if, say, the hospital were to discontinue treatment if she couldn't afford to pay.

They don't care.

This bullshit in Congress is just grandstanding to seal up the fundie vote and to make it seem as though the right values life.

I wouldn't even go as far as calling this a short term display of compassion. I see no compassion at all.

All I see is a bunch of self-important hypocrites trying to prove why they are better than everyone else.
