Why doesn't someone call Novak on his treason?

Is there just some gentleman's agreement in the news business that you don't point out to a reporter that while yes, technically you cannot be tried for treason under the laws as they exist, but the source(s) in the White House who fed you the identity of Ambassador Wilson's wife being a CIA agent surely are. And just because a traitor feeds you the information doesn't make it right to publish it.

Why isn't every response of Paul Begalia and James Carville to anything out of Novak's mouth not "... Well, Bob, I'd like to take you seriously about being a patriot and defender of our Country during these times of terrorist attacks, but unfortunately I can't since you are a White House tool for revealing the identity of our own covert agents, thereby weakening our national security ..."?!?
