The hell they don't. Why do you think they're gutting the Constitution NOW? Why do you think they're putting in place measures that ANTICIPATE social dislocation and unrest?
Moreover, what makes you think they aren't looking forward to selling to other markets OUTSIDE the continental US? Who needs an 'overeducated, opinionated, ungrateful' US consumer middle class when you have emerging consumers in dictatorships like China?
What they want is to make the US more like that market.
