2. We could have done better
As for the Democratic response:

Senator Daschle: His usual dishrag personality. While he made some very good points, he just comes across as too timid to be a leader. I'm not saying he should have pulled a Dean, but a little animation would have been nice.

Congresswoman Pelosi: Her national security remarks were good, but a bit low-key, almost like she was afraid of offending anyone. What everyone in the office here was talking about was her appearance, though. Her eyes looked like they were going to pop right out of their sockets. Was this a case of too much Botox??

I would have much rather seen another speaker: Senator Mary Landrieu, Congressman Harold Ford, Senator Russ Feingold, or even a governor like Granholm of Michigan or Kernan of Indiana.
