18. Hey mopaul, I like the way you used that Bible story...

Unlike many who hear it in Sunday School, you actually "get it" and, no doubt, interpret it the way it seemed to be intended by the writer. I've had the same thought - it IS obviously idol worship that's taking place this week and, ironically, by a lot of people who believe so strongly in using the 10 Commandments in public places. If they looked more closely at the first and second of those 10, they would have to plead guilty!

All this stuff since the Ronathon began has brought up a few things for me that I'd kind of forgotten about. It seems like so long ago now. But the main thing is that my grandmother died after lingering with Alzheimer's for years, and now my mother has it (my brother & I and my teenaged son wonder which of us will be next). So I can sympathize with RR's family having to watch a family member slowly go down the tubes from it. And even though it would've helped for Nancy to have spoken up earlier about stem cell research, still maybe she has the clout to stand with Michael J. Fox and Christopher Reeve and possibly make a difference. But it sounds like W & Laura are still opposed and there is just no excuse for that.

That said, my ambivalent feelings about RR stop there, however. Especially since all this rhapsodizing about him is way over the top and going even farther by the minute.

You just happened to be one of the first to speak out so intensely and you were ahead of the crowd on that one. Have you noticed, even though the subject in the media has been almost purely Reagan, that lots of columnists and others are trying to speak truthfully about the Reagan years and legacy? I hope that makes you feel more vindicated and less alone. You're definitely not alone here.

One more thing, off the subject - My computer stopped periodically while GWB was almost down the toilet, but he was visible only from the bottom of his eyes up. They looked like they had rolled back into his head... So, your unintended use of a little "accidental" humor really made my day - thanks. A great "toilet humor" reminder for us to flush him in November!
