154. I think my definition doesn't exactly converge...
I think what most people call a "hippie" and what I call a "hippie" aren't the same thing. But what is really interesting from a sociologocal standpoint is the egocentric replies I am getting no matter how many times I make this clear.

But besides that...

What's with the "we" business? That is the kind of self-serving rhetoric I mock in this thread. "We" are all in this together, and until boomers realize that they are not the be-all and end-all of the universe, "we" will not make any real progress, will "we"?

I guess I have learned a few things:

1. Boomers think very highly of themselves and like to be reminded of how swell they are, often.

2. Telling them that they are NOT swell, or the greatest generation to come down the pike in world history, will get you a world of scorn and condescending derision.

3. Boomers did not end Vietnam, start the Civil Rights era, or keep Nixon from being elected twice, or Reagan either. In fact, they voted for Reagan in droves. They also hate being reminded of this unpleasant fact.

4. Hippies still suck. So do yuppies, the natural offshoot of this most narcissistic of generations in America.

But I still love ya, because although you may be a boomer, you shouldn't degrade yourself with the hippie label. :-)
