59. That's what we have
without cable we'd be unable to get any reception---we live in a large building and you can barely pick up the radio, much less TV even with a super duper Antenna.

We were paying $45/mo for 'limited basic' which is pretty much everything besides the premium channels. But that was such a waste of money and just filled our minds with garbage. TV rots the brain--of that I'm sure.

So we called the cable company and got the "poor white trash ghetto" special for $12/mo. It comes with the local channels, CSPAN, pbs's, discovery, CBUT (canadian channel) and a shitload of religious and shopping channels. But I like it much more.

My husband and I also found that without 19874 channels of garbage to choose from, that we actually *gasp* turn off the TV when nothing is on and either read, or converse with each other or sit outside or do SOMETHING where the TV isn't on.

I realized we had an addiction to TV when the first thing we'd do when we got home was turn on the TV, even if it was muted and on just for background.....it's disturbing.

I'm much happier without the cable, and again, we only have that because otherwise we'd never be able to see ANYTHING---especially PBS...which is pretty much the only channel we watch anyways
