248. deer, hawks, etc. sounds like where i and some friends live.
but we live in the metropolitan area of SF Bay Area. our hills are quite nice, you really can forget you are smack dab in the middle of a metro area. quiet and total darkness of the night, star filled skies. no boom boxes, trucks, sirens, or nosy neighbors... and a hop, skip, and a jump away from tall buildings, opera houses, marinas, museums, big parties, great cuisine, etc.

yes, you really can have your cake and eat it too -- too bad the median house costs 1/2 million dollars... otherwise it would be paradise. soooo close!

wouldn't want to live in wyoming or kansas. all that flat space scares me. kinda like being left in the middle of the ocean. ugh, scares the bejeebus outta me. you can leave me in the middle of the desert, or the middle of a turbulent sea, but please, please, please don't leave me in a big, flat, open, still expanse. aaaiiii! scary!
