7. Charlotte has quite a few bright spots
It has the interesting position of being a somewhat non-Bible belt city in the Bible belt. After a little time in town you should find quite a few places to frequent (if you spend a little energy, yoiu will benefit greatly). The atmosphere is one that is a bit low-key, not politically charged, and usually reasonable. Of course there is always the occasional political storm, but all in all, Charlotte is a nice place to live and work.
