NOT espouse great etiquette.

You want to know what's really proper at weddings? Look up Letitia Baldridge (social secretary to JFK), and Amy Vanderbuilt.

Letitia especially has lots of great ideas about being a gracious socializer on a budget.

Amy is a hoot at telling you how to handle servants, but she does teach you the proper way to lay out a multi-service place setting.

edit: You want a really nice gift? Go to an antique auction and pick up real crystal and sterling silver, not the over-priced silver-plate that's available today.
