Damn. Email from my dad re: his wife's granddaughter, hit by a car.

The child's name is Hialeah. She's 14, a freshman at Marina High School in Huntington Beach, CA. Yesterday she was jaywalking on the way to school and was hit by a car.

My dad, Dennis, writes, "She has multiple skull fractures and is in a coma. Yesterday was a series of bad and good news. She almost died but God placed a neurosurgeon there who was able to relieve pressure which spared her life. If she survives, she may be handicapped in some way.

"If any of you are on speaking terms with God, please pray for a complete recovery."

My dad & his wife are evangelical Christians, as it's plain to see, but we all hurt the same, fundy or atheist. It's worse for his wife, who has always suffered from depression but lately it's been very bad for her. Good thoughts for Dennis & Nancy, and of course for Hialeah, are appreciated.
