I may have just upset a family.. I hope it all turns out ok

I just came from Costco and as I got out of my car to unload stuff I was "accosted" by two pit bulls.. A Mom (with a collar) and a young neutered male pup (about 6 mo).. They jumped on me and were OVERLY friendly, but I could not get them Off of me.. Of course it had rained, and I was covered with muddy footprints..

Like I said they seemed friendly, but I have no fear and talked soothingly to them and did not turn my back on them.. I used the flat palm side of my hands to push them off..

I called the pound, because we have several small kids on our street who will be coming home from school (kids still walk home here), and I could not have stood it if a kid had run from them and triggered an aggressive action..

I told the lady at the pound repeatedly, that they seemed friendly, and to tell the dogcatchers that they were NOT mean.. I hope no harm comes to them, but I just do not trust those dogs around little kids they have not been raised with..

Hopefully a gate was left open and a family out there is frantically calling the pound in hopes they are brought in..

They really startled me when they both galloped towards me..Got a bit of an adrenaline rush to be sure..
