11. I saw it seven or eight times that summer
I was 16. Just the whole romance of being able to go to far away places and see strange sights - it was big and haunting to me. The story appealed to my gut, a sort of tragedy with heros and villains but set in a totally different environment and the effects, at the time, were incredible.

I still get that when I watch the first one but the rest just left me cold. I waited with such anticipation for the second one and it disappointed me. There was just such a poetic quality to the first and I never felt that on any of the others.
