My repukey inlaws told us today, by phone, that they did "unusually well, financially" in 2004. They thanked, in part, bush's policies. Which made my husband throw up a little in his mouth.

Guess how much they give to charity?

Zero.

Yeah, glad it's going so well for you, inlaws. Not so glad that things are so bad for most of the rest of America.

My inlaws are part of that group that bush called his base. The "haves."

Father in law offered to pay for my continuing education. I said no. A) I don't want any part of their money and B) they love to lord it over you, even when it is a gift. No thanks.

I suggested that maybe their local homeless shelter could use some help and he snorted, then laughed. I half expected him to, Scrooge-like, say, "Are there not debtor's prisons for them to go to? Work houses?"

Sigh. Yeah, Merry Christmas.
