No, liberals do understand this. The important thing is to just give and "not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing". Which also means you don't weigh it based on anything external, you just do everything you can. When your country is spending $40 million on an inauguration while giving $35 million, it's a clue you're not doing all you can.
