I was at a party last night with some friends. Had a great time except for a few encounters with some obnoxious drunks. I was alone at my table for a few minutes. This guy comes over and sits down.
Sits down doesn't really do justice to what he did. It took him about 5 minutes to manage the difficult task of sitting in a chair. I kind of stared - it was like looking at a car accident. I can't remember the last time I saw someone so inebriated, yet he still had a beer in hand.
Once he sat down, I wished him a Happy New Year and introduced myself. I reached out to shake his hand. He actually kissed/slobbered on it. He then fell into somewhat of a stupor. I deduced that he was incapable of conversation, so I watched the dancing while waiting for my friend to return. A couple of minutes later he told me that, "You're not very pleasant." Whatever.
Later, I was standing talking to a friend. A guy comes up, who I very briefly met earlier, and puts his arm around me and wishes me a Happy New Year. I returned the greeting. Then he took the glass of champagne out of my hand and held it to my lips for me to drink. I took a sip, but he tipped the whole glass (much faster than I could drink - and who chug-a-lugs champagne anyway.) It went down my neck - even my stomach was wet. My hands were also drenched, because I tried to prevent the whole dumping thing from happening. I walked to the nearest table and started to mop up. He scolded me, because I was supposed to drink faster - he actually said that.
The same guy later on groped one of my friends when he barged into a group picture and undid her dress. He also broke another friend's camera.
Now I'm all for cutting loose and having a good time, but drinking does not give you license to behave like a jerk IMHO.
I never met the drunks in question they were drunk. My guess is that I wouldn't enjoy their company even if they were sober. Does drinking change your personality or just amplify it?
Rant over.
