It had tons of credit cards, but no driver's license. He told his boss and they tried calling the credit card companies, who tried calling him, but couldn't find him. (He was a customer of theirs.) At the end of the day, the guy still hadn't claimed it, so they locked it up in the company safe. He'll probably come by tomorrow. I mean, that's a LOT of money to be missing.

I told an aquaintance about this. She's only a very casual aquaintance. Saw her as I was walking up my driveway. She's also a bush voter. Asked me what was up. She freaked OUT that he didn't pocket the money and THROW THE WALLET AWAY.

I was freaked out that SHE was freaked out. She asked me, "Did anyone see him find it?" and I said "No, he was alone."

She rolled her eyes and said, "Sorry, but that's just idiotic."

I rolled my eyes and said "Sorry but you're just immoral. What if that money is for his kid in college or his mother in a nursing home or something? And DAMN, woman, at the very least, haven't you ever heard of karma? Karma's a BITCH."

I asked her "Would YOU have kept it?"

She didn't even hesitate: "Hell YEAH I would. Too bad, so sad."

I just shook my head and said "Yeah, I figured you'd say that. Just for the record, I wouldn't. And my husband didn't. And you republicans are supposed to be the moral high and mighty ones, huh? What a joke."

Her enlightened response?

"WHATEVER."

The tension is high in my neighborhood, can ya tell?

(I haven't talked to her since shortly after the election but she kinda ambushed me in my driveway this evening. So I'm glad I took the opportunity to piss her off.)
