6. "Common ground" or "compromise" to the pro-lifers that I have met
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 05:23 PM by BrklynLiberal
means "MY Way". There is no room for real compromise in the policies they preach. If they are against abortion, and in that policy they also prevent distribution of birth control, AIDS health information here and in other countries, sex education, and even the funding of organizations that do any of the above...where do you see room for any common ground or compromise in these policies.
No one WANTS an abortion when faced with the necessity of one, but to have the option is not something I am willing to compromise about.
I am also unwilling to deny women any of the other reproductive rights and freedoms that I mentioned above, all of which the "pro-lifers" want to deny women.
They use the word "abortion" to cover an entire universe of processes and information that they would deny women around the world.
EDIT: In the US military a woman can now get a breast enlargement paid for, but cannot get an abortion paid for.

Pharmacists can legally deny a woman birth control pills if it is against their "conscience". Can they do the same for Viagra?
