Howdy, any Latin speakers out there? I've worked my way through ch. 1 of Wheelock's Latin and I have a few of questions.

1. When a syllable is long by location, does that mean I should pronounce the vowel as a long vowel or is it long in the sense of speech rhythm? The book is sparse on this. Are the concepts of long syllables and long vowels different ideas and not to be mixed?

2. WTF is with the supposed answers in the back? They don't match in number and only occasionally do they give you an answer. Frequently they just give you alternative sentences to translate.

3. I am begining to suspect that this relates to question 1, but I'm beginning to notice that under conjugation some of the verbs have "dancing macrons" which are present for some persons and numbers but not others. Are these vowels that are becoming long by location?

4. Anyone want to check my work?
