nothing to do w. darwin or being bored w. sex, you don't even have to be that old or to be having sex w. the other person (assuming there's another person) to get off on it, teens & even sub-teens have been known to be into this

we're all wired differently, who knows why, but presumably there are sound evolutionary reasons why we are not all the same
