MatcomNews Update: Oprah's Jet Did NOT Hit Bird Afterall

<snip>

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Santa Barbara officials say it was wear and tear, and not a collision with a bird, that damaged the windshield of Oprah Winfrey's private jet.

A fire department spokesman initially said Winfrey's jet was forced to return to the city airport Monday after its windshield was cracked in a collision with a bird.

But Battalion Chief John Ahlman now said no bird was involved.

Winfrey, host of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," and her boyfriend, Stedman Graham, were not hurt in the incident.

Winfrey has a mansion in the hills of nearby Montecito.
