Here is a video someone posted on the Rapture Ready Forum. It's like those practical joke TV shows that used to be on before networks found out that amateur tapes were more plentiful and more funny.
I don't have sound here, but I got the jist of it. After a long-winded introduction, a girl is tricked into thinking that the Rapture(tm) occured and that she was "left behind" and going to hell. The reaction from the crowd was a mixture of outrage over the cruelty of the joke and humor. I found the cruelty appauling but not as appauling as the idea that anyone could buy into a fantasy to the extent that this kind of joke is not immediately believeable. My thought might be, "What a bunch of assholes. I guess if they are in heaven, they won't mind me searching their clothes for cash and jewelry. Hey, these shoes are my size."
One remark I found especially telling was this.
post 19: "My question is: Is this girl saved? If she wasn't saved at the time this might be the push that saves her."
Fundies think absolutely anything is justified to convert pople. If they were right, logically anything would be justified. That includes scaring the shit out of children at so-called hell houses, harassment, controlling education, coercion and outright lies. After all, what is unethical if it involves saving ones immortal soul from an eternity of torment?
