a three mile run used to be my big weekend run now it is about the bare minimum and I HAVE to be done by 6 am. I don't run fast (10:00 miles) so I have to be out the door by 5:15 at the latest.
Even on days that I don't feel like doing it I just get the process started (a few sips of coffee is all I need) get them laced up and get out the door....within a quarter mile or so I realize why I am out there. I have had some fairly horrible-didn't want to do it runs- but I use the FACT that I know that I am going to finish and that I will feel great as a motivation.
Reading running mags helps too even though I never really GOT them until I started training for a marathon.
