15. So disappointed in the movie
Edited on Sun Sep-09-07 02:38 AM by Disorganized
They seemed to try to stay close to the book but mostly confused what was happeneing between the boy and the tiger, completely botched the end, made the hunter into a buffoon, and botched a really good, dramatic ending. Perhaps the hardest part of accept was the way the tiger was prograyed - you didn't come away with either understandong for his situation or admiration for him as creature.

I guess it's as good as we could have expected, but as Jack said, he's not sure anyone who hadn't read the book would have a clue about the movie, particularly the end. It's not something we'll watch again - won't even buy the dvd. He also feels he owes a deep apology to Col. Jim Corbett, who was a real hero - a national wildlife preserve in India is named for him - for the way they handled the Graham character.

We're now as mystified by the film industry as we've been by publishers. Jack wonders why someone would set out to create bad work - I say maybe they're so jaded they don't know it's bad. When I read a bad book now I wonder how good the book was before an editor got his/her hands on it. The whole thing has been an education.

The hardback - Shikar - is in a lot of libraries. You can also find it remainered on Amazon and there should be copies of the paperback - Maneater - around.

Edited for word left out
