10. My experiences haven't been too bad.
Most of the worst stuff I got at my last job that eventually drove me to quit - I was a cashier at a hardware store - actually came from other supervisors/managers. Not that they treated me badly, but they often asked me to fill in for people who flaked out/were sick/didn't show, resulting in numerous, unscheduled 8-9 and even a couple of 11-12 hour days. It's not that the customers were bad, it's just that the job had so little variety. It was the same day in and day out.

My new job, were I'm cashier again, is better so far. I'm still learning the system, but there's a lot more variety in the things that go on at the register. Plus, I always have plenty of backup and I don't need to beg for assistance when there's a line.

Sometimes I'm not sure how I handle the customers either, but apparently I have excellent customer service skills and I always greet people with a warm hello and a friendly smile. I guess retail places like that stuff?
