20. Something I wrote many years ago, anticipating you.
YOUR EYES

To look within your gentle eyes
and see the secret smile--
To raise my hand and touch your hair;
caress the silken locks--
To brush your cheek with fingertips
yet feel it as embrace
within your arms, held tight and warm,
while gazing at your face--
To see with joy your tender lips
quirked up in sparkling smile,
inviting passion's quiet kiss
so fresh, so cool and clean--
I'm lost within your dancing eyes.
I never want to leave!
You, whom I see so close to me,
I dare not try to touch
for fear that I am wrong.
Yet I hope I might be right--
Imaginings play games
inside my head
as day by day I look at you
from the corner of my eye
as we walk side by side--
I see your smile
and hear (supposed) hints
within the jokes you tell
to me with gleaming eyes.
To hear your laugh
and see your sunny smile,
it sometimes makes me think
that maybe you have looked at me;
and maybe you have wanted me
the way that I want you…
