in the political threads.... there's a 'global test' on whether a person is liberal enough to be a DU'er.
And a lot of the ugly tone is between people who are probably more moderate politically BUT CONSIDER THEMSELVES TO BE LIBERAL and the people who are more politically liberal AND CONSIDER THEMSELVES TO BE TRUE LIBERALS.

I guess I never thought of liberal as being limited to political action... I thought of it as including life choice - being protective of the environment by living green for example or supporting civil rights by supporting the ACLU in its good works.

It seems like people on DU are willing to diss each other purely over difference in political views without any recognition that values or life actions may be equally important to being liberal
