I cried like a baby last night.

I was sitting on the couch with JackMN, who was rather crabby. He started digging around in his mouth and whimpering, and I thought he was going to throw up. All of a sudden I hear something rattling against his teeth. I asked him what he had in his mouth, and tried to get him to let me look. He got really upset and I saw something fall out of his mouth onto the floor. I looked on the carpet, and there was a tooth! I freaked out until I thought about it for a minute and remembered that he IS 5 1/2.
It's so easy for me to forget that he's as old as he is, because he doesn't look or seem it.

After he calmed down I went in his room to pick up some toys, and I burst out crying when it occurred to me that I don't, and won't, have any more little ones with "baby smiles". Then I started crying again when I realized he wouldn't even understand the tooth fairy thing. I still left his tooth for the tooth fairy and gave him some money. I couldn't skip doing it. It just didn't seem right.
