3. Plants in patio pots usually do better with frequent, low doses applications of fertilizer.
You can use Miracle-Gro or other such fertilizers if you don't care about organics, but be sure to dissolve a very small amount in water --say about 1/4 the amount called for on the box/bottle--and feed the plants weekly. IIRC bigger hits of fertilizer can wreak havoc with the plants because of their weaker root systems.

No poo unless it's commercial chicken manure made brewed into a weak tea.
