They are all based in New Orleans Louisiana, and their studio was set up in New Orleans after Katrina.
All of these guys have different jobs - one is a first responder (firefighter - that's Smitty). Another is a teacher (Scott). Dave is the only one that doesn't know how to play an instrument (briefly fiddled with it in college), so he pretends (I've observed it, and he emphasizes it with his dancing). Rich's drum is a hybrid of the ones that are used by street performers.
