K&R, what does it mean?

This is a bit silly but will someone enlighten me as to what K & R stands for? I have been reading DU for just under a hundred years so I am not sure how I missed this one, and I was oddly uncurious about it until tis afternoon. So I did a search in the FAQ, and forums, and the googles, and... nothing! :woohoo: So I'm going to ask here.

If this post must be locked I understand. :cry: If you have the answer get iNb4DaLoC plz!!!11!1!! :P
