5. I didn't think the DaVinci Code was that radical....
Obviously, the early church had different factions. There were hundreds of "gospels" and many varied traditions. Those gospels selected for the Bible tended to be those that lent support to the hierarchy which was decidedly anti-matriarchal and anti-woman.

Jesus was almost certainly married. An unmarried man in his mid-30's in those days would have been highly unusual. As to any children, its a possibility though no direct proof survives. In reality, proof probably does exist but it is undoubtedly stored deep in the innermost vaults of the Vatican and will never be revealed.

Guess that's what makes fiction interesting.
