First off, I wish you the best, and I wish you every possible support you could have. If you're comfortable talking to a doctor or a member of clergy about it, perhaps you could get a referral to a group and/or therapist. At any rate, you need support, it's out there, and I hope you get it.

And you're in GOOD COMPANY. Ann Richards, the feisty, charming former governor of Texas, goes to AA. She's open about it. Good for her, I say.

I would venture to say that many of us at DU know what you are about to embark upon, or we have relatives/friends who have done the same. Consider yourself patted on the back for taking the first steps.
