Terminator 3 reference just now occurred to me

and no, not for the obvious reasons.

There's a point that Ahnuld makes in T3 (as the future T101 sent back to "protect" John Conner & co.).

The advanced terminators of the future sent a T101 into the rebel camp because John felt "comfortable" and "nostalgic" about the one which befriended him as a boy. This allowed the assassin terminator to get close enough to "terminate" John (in the future).

Reality now mocks the 2-hour commercial for Ahnuld's gubernatorial campaign, where a lot of people might feel "comfortable" having a "warm and fuzzy" yet Republican actor get into the highest office in a state where the economy dwarves most industrialized nations.

I'm afraid for the future of this nation.
