The primary is not until over a year from now. He could drop out in March and still have plenty of time to run an effective campaign. Of course he may be on the ticket as a vice-presidential candidate. In that event, under Florida law, he can't run for both offices at the same time. But that's a bridge that can be crossed when, or if, it arises.
