He has totally failed to reduce crime in his city because of his inability to govern, his personal level of corruption or the level of corruption of the other city officials. (Or all three.)

Hopefully, his time in office will soon come to an end and his replacement will be far more competent and honest.

One thing that may drop crime in his city is some reasonable gun laws that allow honest citizens to own firearms for self defense. If the Supreme Court overturns Chicago's strict ban on firearms in the home, I expect Daley will impose so many hurdles to owning a firearm that few will be able to afford the time, effort and expense to get one.

He can't allow firearms in the hands of honest citizens to reduce the crime rate. His efforts at banning guns would be shown to be misguided and foolish. His ego will not allow that.
