Avigdor Lieberman was the Israeli Minister of Transportation until earlier this year. Joe's just another run of the mill, not particularly left-sounding politicians that sound more Republican than Democrat....
Another way to tell the difference is to check out a few quotes from Avigdor Lieberman. I doubt Joe Lieberman's ever come out with anything as nasty as this gem:
If you ask me, Israel's number one problem...is first of all Arab citizens of the State of Israel. Those who identify as Palestinians will have to move to Palestine. Do I consider them citizens of the State of Israel? No! Do we have to settle the score with them? Yes!
