It is pretty much a made up term. I don't see anything in the article to support the 80 year claim. I do see that a "small, self-perpetuating, self-anointed group of specialists" support it and I'm sorry but a "small, self-perpetuating, self-anointed group of specialists" does not our government make. I do see that it is no longer included in the 2010 Quadrennial Defense Review. I also see that the article does not provide any links to back up it's claims or to give the reader any context, that always makes me suspicious.
I also think that the anonymous physicist is a raving loon that really needs to get a grip on reality.
