They did withstand the impact. Or did I miss the video where the towers fell down right after the impact of the planes?

But there's more - the article continues....

The resultant explosion and extremely intense fire would have substantially decreased the tower's ability to maintain it's structural integrity. Seems like they're saying the cause of the collapse was not just from the impact of the planes. Hmmm....
