He was a great front for a massive, irresponsible transfer of wealth to the wealthiest while saddling future generations of middle class people with the debt he created.

But in the same way that it was a good thing that FDR was president during WW2, it would have been nice if someone like Clinton had been president when Gorbachev was dismantling totalitarianism in the Soviet Union.
